Born on March 27, 1886, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was a pioneering figure in modernist architecture. Known for his minimalist approach, he coined the phrase "Less is more." His designs integrated innovative construction methods, utilizing materials such as steel and plate glass to create open spaces that are unencumbered by supporting walls.
