The Colossus of Rhodes was an enormous statue of the sun god Helios, constructed in the city of Rhodes, Greece, in 280 BC. Standing approximately 33 meters high, it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, designed by the sculptor Chares of Lindos.
This majestic statue stood proudly at the entrance of the harbor of Rhodes, symbolizing the strength and resilience of the local people. Its construction took 12 years and was completed in 280 BC, only to be destroyed by an earthquake just 54 years later. Although it no longer stands today, the Colossus remains a symbol of ingenuity and the pioneering spirit of ancient civilizations.
