Starry Night
"Starry Night" is one of the most famous paintings by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889, it depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imagined village.
This piece illustrates Van Gogh's fascination with the night sky. The swirling patterns in the sky create a vibrant rhythm, while the cypress tree in the foreground ties the earth to the expansiveness of the cosmos.
