About Georges Seurat
Georges Pierre Seurat (1859-1891) was a French post-Impressionist artist known for devising the painting techniques known as Pointillism or Divisionism. His most famous work is the iconic A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
Seurat studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. While his early works were conventional, he soon developed a unique style marked by small, distinct dots of color applied in patterns to form an image.
