The Meiji Era marked a time of incredible change in Japan. Emerging from centuries of feudal isolation, Japan embraced modernization and quickly transformed into an industrial power.
This period saw the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and the restoration of imperial rule under Emperor Meiji. The government enacted political, social, and economic reforms that radically altered Japanese society.
