What is a Black Hole?
A black hole is a region in space where the pulling force of gravity is so strong that not even light can escape it. The boundary surrounding a black hole is called the event horizon, which light cannot get out across. Thus, the strong gravitational pull ensures nothing can escape once it’s inside the event horizon.
Formation of Black Holes
Most black holes form from the remnants of a large star that dies in a supernova explosion. Smaller stars become dense neutron stars, while the larger mass collapses into a black hole with gravity compressing it into an infinitely small point known as a singularity.
