Meet the Axolotl
🌟The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a unique type of salamander originally found in several lakes, such as Lake Xochimilco underlying present-day Mexico City. Unlike other amphibians, axolotls retain their larval features throughout their life in a phenomenon known as neoteny.
Fascinating Features
- 🔄 They can regenerate entire limbs, parts of their heart, and even parts of their brain!
- 💧 Though critically endangered in the wild, axolotls are popular pets due to their striking appearance and biological uniqueness.
