The Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is the largest living species of lizard. They are found on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and Gili Motang. These formidable creatures can be over 3 meters in length and weigh more than 70 kg!

📜 Historical Context
Komodo Dragons have existed for millions of years. They were first recorded in scientific literature in 1910 by Lieutenant van Steyn van Hensbroek, who served as an administration officer in the Dutch Colonial Administration in Indonesia.
🌿 Environment and Behavior
These giants prefer hot, dry places and typically live in savanna and forested areas. They are solitary creatures, with the exception of breeding and eating times. Komodos are carnivorous and have a keen sense of smell used to locate their prey.
