Welcome to the Amphibian Journey: Salamanders!

Discover the Enigmatic Salamanders

Salamanders are a diverse and fascinating group of amphibians characterized by their slender bodies, long tails, and smooth, moist skin. Found in a wide variety of habitats, they are mostly subterranean and aquatic, making them elusive and mysterious creatures.

While often mistaken for lizards, salamanders belong to their own unique order called Caudata, differing from reptiles in their moist skin and need for a water habitat at some stage of their life. Key species include the vibrant Newts and the large, endangered Hellbenders.
