Anubis, known as Inpu in ancient Egyptian, is the god of funerary rites, an embalmer, and protector of graves. He is often depicted as a man with a canine head.
Role in Egyptian Mythology
Anubis played a significant role in the journey to the afterlife. He was believed to guide souls to the afterlife and oversee the weighing of the heart ceremony in the Hall of Two Truths. He ensured the dead received proper rites and protections.
