Christopher Columbus 🌍

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer, navigator, and colonizer who completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. Accepting an offer from Spain's Catholic Monarchs, he led these expeditions aiming to discover a new route to India, but instead he landed in what is now known as the Bahamas in 1492.

He is historically credited with opening up the Americas to European colonization. However, his legacy is complex, with his voyages also marking the beginning of centuries of transatlantic exploration and conquest.
