The Essentials of Butterfly Stroke
The butterfly stroke is both beautiful and demanding. It's all about rhythm and coordination between your arms, legs, and breathing.
- Body Position: Maintain a horizontal position, close to the water surface. Your body should wave like a dolphin 🦩.
- Arm Motion: Begin with a high elbow catch and a sweeping motion. Your arms should exit the water simultaneously.
- Kicking: Use a powerful and rhythmic dolphin kick. Two kicks per arm cycle are typical.
- Breathing: Take a breath at the beginning of each arm stroke by lifting your head gently forward.
- Practice: Start with drills to isolate each part of the stroke. Gradually combine all elements for the complete motion.
