What are Fossils?
Fossils are the remains or impressions of ancient organisms preserved in rock. They provide us with an amazing window into the history of life on Earth!
Through fossils, we can learn about organisms that lived millions of years ago, the environments they lived in, and how life evolved over time.
Types of Fossils
Fossils come in several forms, including:
- Body Fossils: Parts of the actual organism, like bones or teeth.
- Trace Fossils: Indirect signs of life such as footprints, burrows, or feces.
- Molecular Fossils: Chemical signals that indicate past life without direct evidence.
