The King of Swing
Benny Goodman was an American jazz clarinetist and bandleader, known as the "King of Swing". He led one of the most popular musical groups in America in the 1930s. His exceptional musicianship and progressive approach to racial integration in music left a lasting legacy in the world of jazz and swing.
Goodman's bands launched the careers of many major instrumentalists and helped define the swing era of music. Some of his star soloists included Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, and Teddy Wilson.
