About Jaco Pastorius
John Francis Pastorius III, known as Jaco Pastorius, was a revolutionary American jazz bassist and composer. Born on December 1, 1951, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he became renowned in the 1970s for his virtuosic technique and genre-blurring innovations.
Most famous for his work with Weather Report, Joni Mitchell, and his solo career, Jaco transformed the electric bass into a lead instrument with his melodic lines and harmonics.
