Thyagaraja (1767–1847) is renowned as one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music, a brilliant music composer whose legacy continues to inspire generations. His contributions to Indian music are unparalleled, having composed thousands of devotional songs, most famously in praise of Lord Rama.
Born in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu, Thyagaraja's music today forms a central aspect of Carnatic repertoire. His compositions are deeply rooted in spirituality and classical melodies, known as kritis.
