Tyagaraja (1767–1847) was a prominent composer of Carnatic music—a form of classical Indian music that originated in Southern India. Considered one of the greatest musical geniuses of India, Tyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions, most of which are in Telugu and in praise of Ram.
His legacy continues to inspire and influence musicians and composers around the world. He is remembered annually at the Tyagaraja Aradhana, a festival dedicated to his memory.
