Fryderyk Chopin, also known as Frédéric Chopin, was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era who wrote primarily for solo piano. He gained and maintains worldwide renown as one of the most compelling composers for the instrument.
Born on March 1, 1810, in Żelazowa Wola, Poland, Chopin was a child prodigy who grew up to become one of the most significant nationalistic composers of Poland.
