The Beauty of Tabla Beats
The tabla is a pair of twin hand drums from the Indian subcontinent and is widely used in Indian classical music. The tabla consists of two single-headed, barrel-shaped small drums of slightly different size and shape: the dayan meaning "right" and the bayan meaning "left".
Tablas are known for their rich, unique sounds and intricate rhythmic patterns, called "tala". One fascinating tala is the 'Teentaal', which is divided into four equal sections of four beats each.
