The Basic Notes
The piano has 88 keys and is made up of white and black keys. Let’s focus first on the white keys:
- C - The starting point; often, the first note learned.
- D - Right next to C.
- E - Directly after D.
- F, G, A, B follow in that order.
The white keys follow this pattern repeatedly across the keyboard.
The Black Keys
The black keys are grouped in sets of two and three, which help in identifying the notes. They are the sharps (#) and flats (â™) of the notes.
