The Cycles of the Moon
Our beloved Moon goes through eight distinct phases in a cycle that takes about 29.5 days to complete. These phases are: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, and Waning Crescent. Each phase offers its own unique view and a touch of magic to the night sky.
Why do Moon Phases Happen?
This beautiful sequence is due to the Moon's orbit around Earth. As both Earth and the Moon shine by reflecting sunlight, the portion of the Moon we see illuminated changes as it orbits.
