Step 1: Start with a Square Base
Begin by folding a square piece of origami paper in half diagonally both ways. Then, fold it in half horizontally and vertically to form creases.
Step 2: Form a Preliminary Base
Fold the sides to the center and flatten to form a smaller square on top.
Step 3: Create the Bird Base
Fold the upper layers of the diamond to the centerline, then fold the top point towards you and crease along the existing folds. Unfold all sides.
