The Majestic White Phantom of the Arctic
The Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus) is a stunning, large white owl with a rounded head, no ear-tufts, and a black beak. They are native to the Arctic regions of North America and Palearctic and breed primarily on the tundra.
Known for their beautiful white plumage, Snowy Owls are well adapted to cold environments. Males are almost completely white, while females and young owls have dark spots.
These fascinating birds are primarily diurnal and hunt during the daytime. Their diet consists mainly of lemmings and other small rodents, although they have been known to prey on birds and larger mammals during scarcity.
