Immanuel Kant (1724–1804) was a German philosopher who is a central figure in modern philosophy. His comprehensive and systematic works in epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics have profoundly influenced all subsequent philosophy.

His most famous work, "Critique of Pure Reason", sought to explain the relationship between human experiences and knowledge itself. Kant argued that while our knowledge begins with experience, it doesn't all come from experience.
