2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
½ cup milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt
Red and yellow food coloring

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
Stir in the vanilla extract. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Mix until just combined.
Divide batter into two bowls. Color one with red food coloring and the other with yellow. Pour batter alternately into the pans to create a sunset effect.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn onto wire racks to cool completely.
