Puran Poli - Sweet Flatbread
Indulge in the classic Maharashtrian delight. This sweet flatbread is filled with a mixture of jaggery and yellow gram, perfect for Holi celebrations.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1 cup chana dal (yellow gram)
- 1 cup jaggery, grated
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- Ghee for cooking
Instructions:
- Prepare the dough with flour and water. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Cook chana dal until soft, drain, and mix with jaggery and cardamom.
- Roll out the dough, place a spoonful of filling, and seal the edges.
- Cook on a hot griddle with ghee until golden brown.
Thandai - Refreshing Drink
This chilled almond-flavored drink is a staple during Holi, providing a refreshing break from all the fun.
Ingredients:
- 1 liter milk
- 20 almonds
- 8 cashews
- 8 pistachios
- 3 tbsp sugar
- A pinch of saffron
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions:
- Soak almonds, cashews and pistachios for 2 hours, then grind to a fine paste.
- Boil milk, add ground paste, sugar, saffron and cardamom.
- Chill before serving.
