The Renaissance was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. It is typically considered to have taken place from the 14th century to the 17th century, marked by a renewed interest in the classical arts and ideas of Ancient Rome and Greece. During this time, there was a blossoming of inventive thought, with art and literature being a major focus.
