Understanding Inequalities
Inequalities are fundamental in algebra, allowing us to understand the relative size or order of values. They are expressed in forms such as x < y or a ≥ b. Let's explore some key concepts and examples:
- Less Than (<): Means the value on the left is smaller than the one on the right. For example, 3 < 5.
- Greater Than (>): Indicates the value on the left is larger than the right, e.g., 7 > 4.
- Less Than or Equal To (≤): Shows that the left side can be smaller or equal. For instance, 8 ≤ 8.
- Greater Than or Equal To (≥): Similar, but the left can be greater or equal, as in 6 ≥ 3.
