The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus. First observed by Chinese astronomers in 1054 AD, it remains one of the most studied cosmic entities to this day. This nebula is particularly famed for being the first astronomical object identified with a historical supernova explosion.
The nebula's tendrils of dust and gas provide insights into the power and beauty of stellar explosions. It spans about 11 light-years across and is still expanding at a pace of 1,500 kilometers per second.
