The Process of Respiration 🌬️
Respiration is a vital process for all living organisms. It involves the exchange of gases between the organism and its environment, allowing for necessary biological functions.
Aerobic and Anaerobic Respiration
Aerobic respiration occurs in the presence of oxygen and produces carbon dioxide, water, and energy. In contrast, anaerobic respiration does not require oxygen and results in the production of lactic acid (in animals) or ethanol and carbon dioxide (in plants and yeast).
Interesting Facts
- Did you know that humans have trillions of cells, each requiring oxygen to function?
- Plants respire too! They take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen during photosynthesis.
