The Amphibian Lifecycle
Frogs, like all amphibians, lead fascinating lives that are full of change! Below we explore the unique lifecycle of these incredible creatures:
Stage 1: Egg
It all begins when a female frog lays hundreds of eggs, often in calm waters. These eggs are encased in a jelly-like substance that protects and nurtures them. They typically hatch within a few days to a couple of weeks.
Stage 2: Tadpole
Upon hatching, the tadpole emerges. This baby frog starts with a tail but lacks limbs and survives by swimming and feeding on algae. 🐟🐸
Stage 3: Froglet
As the tadpole grows, it undergoes major changes: limbs sprout, the tail recedes, and lungs develop, preparing the young frog for life on land. 🌿
Stage 4: Adult Frog
Finally, the froglet matures into an adult frog, ready to leap onto land and explore both terrestrial and aquatic environments. An adult frog continues the cycle by finding a mate and laying eggs.🌍🐸
