Understanding Congruence in Geometry
Congruence in geometry indicates that two figures or shapes are identical in shape and size. If you can place one shape over the other and they match perfectly, they are congruent!
Properties of Congruence
- Reflective Property: Any geometric figure is congruent to itself.
- Symmetric Property: If one figure is congruent to another, then the second is congruent to the first.
- Transitive Property: If one figure is congruent to a second and the second is congruent to a third, then the first and third figures are congruent.
