The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy, in the late Middle Ages. The city-state was renowned for its wealth and its patronage of artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who dominated the period.
It spread to the rest of Europe and had profound influences on literature, music, and dance, particularly through significant publications like Dante’s "Divine Comedy" and Machiavelli's "The Prince".
