Understanding Newton's Laws
Sir Isaac Newton, an eminent scientist, proposed three fundamental laws of motion that form the foundation for classical mechanics. These laws describe the relationship between the motion of an object and the forces acting on it.
First Law: Law of Inertia
An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by a net external force.
Second Law: Law of Acceleration
The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass. This law can be summarized by the equation: F = ma.
Third Law: Action and Reaction
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means that forces always occur in pairs.
