What are Gravitational Waves?
Gravitational waves are ripples in spacetime caused by some of the most violent and energetic processes in the Universe. Albert Einstein predicted their existence in 1916 in his general theory of relativity!
These waves transport energy as gravitational radiation, a form of radiant energy similar to electromagnetic radiation. The waves were first directly detected on Earth in 2015, confirming Einstein's century-old prediction.
