The Pantheon
The Pantheon in Rome is a masterwork of architecture and engineering. Its perfect dome, with an oculus at the center, has fascinated architects for millennia. Originally built in 27 BC–14 AD, it was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian around 126 AD.
Highlights:
- The Oculus: A circular opening at the dome's apex allows natural light and the elements to enter.
- The Rotunda: Impressively spacious and a marvel of ancient engineering.
- Ancient & Modern: Still intact, the Pantheon has served as a church since the 7th century.
