Introduction to Stoicism
Stoicism is a school of philosophy that hails from ancient Greece and Rome. Founded in Athens by Zeno of Citium in the early 3rd century BC, it is a philosophy of personal ethics informed by its system of logic and views on the natural world.
The Stoics are primarily known for teaching that "virtue is the only good" for human beings, and external things such as health, wealth, and pleasure are not good or bad in themselves but have value as a means of achieving virtue.
