Ingredients
- 1 cup urad dal (split black gram lentils)
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 cups yogurt
- Chaat masala to taste
- Tamarind chutney
- Green chutney
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves
- Optional: Pomegranate seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse and soak urad dal in water for 4-6 hours. Drain and grind to a smooth paste.
- Add cumin seeds and salt to the paste. Beat well to make it light and fluffy.
- Form small balls with the batter and fry in hot oil until they turn golden brown.
- Soak the fried dumplings in warm water for about 15 minutes. Then, gently press to remove excess water.
- Mix yogurt with a little water to achieve a pouring consistency. Add a pinch of chaat masala and salt.
- Place the dumplings in a serving dish. Pour yogurt over them.
- Drizzle tamarind and green chutney generously.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and, optionally, pomegranate seeds.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
